MX-5 NC Power Steering Tank

The power steering reservoir in Mazda MX-5 third-generation (NC) models is made from plastic parts that are friction-welded. Due to hundreds of heating and cooling cycles and weather conditions, the plastic tends to yellow. Although the yellowing does not significantly affect the operation of the power steering system, the appearance under the hood is not particularly appealing. 

The power steering reservoir from MAD fabworx is made of 3.0 mm thick aluminium sheet, welded using the TIG method, which ensures high durability against thermal cycles. 

Additionally, the reservoir is equipped with internal baffles that limit the sudden movement of the entire liquid volume during abrupt maneuvers, as well as increasing the stiffness of the entire structure. 

The reservoir also features a mesh filter that prevents any particles (metal shavings from the pump) from entering the steering rack. 

Furthermore, the reservoir has a liquid level indicator made of aluminium and natural glass, resistant to temperatures above 150°C, allowing for easy checking of the fluid level.

100% of MAD fabworx reservoirs are pressure tested to 2 bar (100% above operating pressure). The reservoirs are powder-coated.
